Geoghegan, whose daughter Victoria worked for Bell Pottinger, introduced the PR firm to the Gupta family, whose Oakbay Capital vehicle paid for a racially-charged campaign that sparked Bell Pottinger's downfall.
The Times reported last week Chris Geoghegan was paid more than £100,000 for brokering the deal introducing the London PR firm to the Guptas.
Rentokil announced on Monday that former BAE man Geoghegan had stood down with immediate effect as non executive director, where he had also been chairman of the remuneration committee and senior independent director.
