A formal process to appoint a replacement has begun, with both internal and external candidates being considered. In the meantime, the group's chief operating officer, Anthony Gee, will act in a non-board position as interim chief finance officer. Chartered accountant Gee has been at the company for six years.
Non-executive chairman Harry Wilson said: "This change comes at a natural time as the business moves out of its recovery and restructuring phase and into building for the future. I would like to thank Andy for his outstanding contribution over the three years since he joined Stanley Gibbons.
"It is largely as a result of his hard work that the group has been able to overcome the issues that it faced and we wish him well in his new endeavours."
