FTSE 250 movers: Future falls; Finablr in the green
London’s FTSE 250 was down 0.1% at 21,484.41 in afternoon trade on Monday.
Future was in the red. Shares of the magazine publisher slumped late in January following a damning report from London-based research firm and short-seller Shadowfall Research. Since then, however, the company has said that it expects the outcome for the full year to be "materially ahead" of market expectations.
Travelex owner Finablr was on the rise after the company - co-founded and chaired by Indian billionaire BR Shetty - said in a statement that a committee of independent directors were reviewing the alleged arrangements between Shetty and the shareholders in the payments firm.
This came as UAE healthcare operator NMC Health, which was also co-founded by Shetty, said it had received "highly preliminary" approaches from Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co and GK Investment to buy the company. It also said that Shetty is conducting a legal review into potential historical inaccuracies relating to his own stake in the firm and those of three other major shareholders.
William Hill gained following a report the company is close to signing a landmark US partnership with national broadcaster CBS. According to the Sunday Times, the gambling operator has revived talks with media group CBS Sports and is in the final stage of negotiations. An announcement was understood to be "imminent".
