Nationwide makes permanent arrangements for remote working by staff
Britain’s Nationwide Building Society told all its 13,000 office-based staff to work from anywhere in the country as part of its permanent arrangements for staff to work remotely.
Workers were sent home at the start of the coronavirus pandemic crisis and the lender said it would not renew the leases on three of its offices in Swindon.
This is the latest move from a UK company to take advantage of the success of remote working and slash its office space.
Instead, Nationwide said it will continue to invest in offices by installing more collaboration spaces.
The lender had already cut costs in 2020 by offering redundancy packages to around 200 staff with a view to around 100 accepting them, Reuters reported.
