UK households grow more pessimistic on economic outlook, IHS Markit says
Britons grew more pessimistic about the UK´s economic outlook, according to the results of a survey.
When asked how they saw the longer-term performance of the economy, 31.0% of respondents said the referendum vote had improved Britain´s economic prospects for the next 10 years, while 49.3% said it had worsened as a result, IHS Markit said.
At a net -18.4%, the degree of pessimism was considerably worse than the -11.1% recorded in August and the -3.5% seen in July.
Nonetheless, over the next six months a net -40.7% believed the economy would perform better, marking a slight improvement on the July and August survey readings of -42.7% and -42.9%, respectively.
