Spanish language broadcaster Univision files for US IPO
The largest Spanish-language broadcaster in the United States, Univision, has filed for an initial public offering.
According to documents filed with US regulators, the broadcaster wants to raise $100m, although it was expected that this figure would change.
In its filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Univision said last year it generated revenue of $2.9bn.
It claimed its market opportunity was in the growth of Hispanic America, which was estimated to boom from 57m at the end of this year to 77m by 2030.
Univision said the buying power of Hispanic Americans would lift to $1.7tn by 2019 from $1.3tn of buying power in 2014.
Since 2007 Univision was owned by a consortium of private equity sponors including Madison Dearborn Partners, Providence Equity Partners, Texas Pacific Group, Thomas H. Lee Partners and Saban Capital Group.
