US import prices edge higher in July
The cost of purchasing goods from abroad if you're American increased last month on the back of a rise in energy costs.
Total import prices rose by 0.1% month-on-month, according to the Department of Labor, and by 1.5% on the year.
That was exactly as economists had anticipated.
Fuel import prices advanced by 0.5% in comparison to June, while those for non-fuel imports dipped 0.1%.
Export prices also rose, gaining 0.4% on the month, with agricultural exports 2.1% dearer than in the previous month and non-agricultural ones 0.3% more expensive.
