US house price inflation steady in January, FHFA says
US house price inflation was steady at the start of the year, led by gains in the Mid-Atlantic region and South.
House prices increased at a 0.3% month-on-month pace in January and at a 5.2% clip year-on-year, with the latter the same as during the previous month, the Federal Housing Finance Agency said.
Economists had anticipated an annual increase of 4.9%.
In comparison to a year before, home price inflation rose the quickest in the Mid-Atlantic (4.1%) and South Atlantic (6.4%).
