Fed's Evans sounds dovish note
A top US central bank official sounded a relatively dovish note on Monday.
Speaking at a conference in Madrid, Spain, Chicago Fed president Charles Evans reportedly said he did not expect core inflation to reach the central bank's target until 2019.
He reportedly also said that between two and three interest rate hikes in 2017 would bring interest rates close to their neutral level.
Evans added that his forecast was below the median of those included in the central bank's Summary of Economic Projections published on 15 March.
The median forecast from the members of the Federal Open Market Committee included in the SEP was for three interest rate hikes in 2017, followed by another three in 2018.
