Eurozone retail sales rise a touch more than expected in May
Eurozone retail sales rose 0.2% in May following a 0.7% increase in April, a touch ahead of analysts’expectations.
According to figures released by Eurostat on Friday, year-on-year retail sales were up 2.4% in May, compared with a 2.7% rise in April. The reading beat expectations for growth of 2.3%.
The highest increases in total retail trade were registered in Poland, Estonia and Malta, while the largest decrease were seen in Ireland, Denmark and Lithuania.
