Tesla announced on Wednesday that its top lawyer Dane Butswinkas will leave the company after just two months on the job.
Butswinkas joined Tesla in December but will now return to his previous role at law firm Williams & Connolly.
The attorney said in a statement that he was looking forward to returning to Washington to continue his work with Tesla in an outside counsel role.
Jonathan Chang, the current vice president of the legal department, will be taking over his role at the electric carmaker, company told Reuters on Wednesday.
His departure follows that of CFO Deepak Ahuja who announced last month he would be stepping down.
Tesla shares fell 1.13% after the announcement was made.
Musk had tweeted on Tuesday evening that Tesla would make around 500,000 cars in 2019. He later corrected the tweet to say he meant the company would be producing at an annualised rate of 500,000 vehicles by the end of the year.
His latest foray on social media again triggered talk that me may have inadvertently divulged sensitive company information with the intention of influencing the company’s share price.
