Britons advised to change diet to cope with food delays post-Brexit
Britons have been advised to change their diet in the case of a chaotic Brexit to cope with fresh food delays after Brexit.
The Times reported some sources of fresh food from European Union countries could be cut off or delayed. Sites to stockpile food across the country have been prepared.
Ian Wright, director-general of the Food and Drink Federation, told the Times: “This illustrates the really grisly nature of a no-deal outcome. Quite simply, the British people would not forgive anyone responsible for it coming to pass.”
Around 60% of food is produced in the UK but in the changing seasons Britain imports up to 70% of fruit and vegetables, according to the federation.
