Sector movers: NMC Health leads decline
Health care, beverages and utilities led on the downside as the FTSE 100 dipped into the red on Wednesday, while aerospace, banks, telecoms and life insurance were higher.
NMC Health, the Dubai-focused private healthcare operator, was the driving force of losses in the health care sector, down 10% with no specific news on the wires. Sector shares were all lower but by little more than 1%.
Likewise, beverages were all lower, led by Coca-Cola HBC and Diageo, and so were utilities, led by ContourGlobal, Centrica, National Grid and Severn Trent.
On the upside, aerospace & defence was mixed, with the gains led by BAE Systems.
Amid a rebound in Banks started strongly but were mixed later on, with CYBG, Barclays and RBS leading but HSBC flat. Life insurers were all in the green, led by Legal & General, Just Group and Aviva.
Telecoms was in the green as BT gained on a report that it was eyeing deeper cost cutting.
