Sector movers: Few clear winners on mixed session
Technology and telecoms sectors led the charge on Tuesday, while the transportation and auto sectors were in reverse.
Personal goods, pharma and tobacco were all among the top rising sectors, while miners, life and non-life insurers and real estate investors and services providers were generally scenes of green.
Leading the telecoms sector was Vodafone after it said it was aiming to raise around €4bn from convertible bonds to fund the acquisition of European assets from Liberty Global. The company said the mandatory convertible bonds would enable it to buy back shares in order to mitigate dilution.
Other telecoms groups BT and TalkTalk were on the front foot, while the software sector saw strongest gains for Avast and Micro Focus.
BBA Aviation led the decline for the industrial transportation sector after its full-year results beat expectations but there was no update on the anticipated sale of its Engine Repair and Overhaul unit. Net debt was also above some analysts' estimates.
