Eurozone industrial production falls for second month
Industrial production in the eurozone edged lower in July, official data showed on Wednesday, as a sharp decline in non-durable consumer goods output offset growth elsewhere.
According to Eurostat, seasonally adjusted industrial production fell 0.1% month-on-month in July, matching the 0.1% decline recorded in June, though not as steep as the -0.2% expected.
Production of non-durable consumer goods dropped 1.6% during the month, while output increased across all other major industrial groupings: energy and durable consumer goods production both rose 0.9%, capital goods output increased 0.5%, and intermediate goods production was 0.3% higher.
Among individual eurozone countries, Luxembourg recorded the sharpest monthly increase, with industrial production jumping 4.5%, followed by Croatia at 3.9% and Ireland at 2.6%.
At the other end of the table, Bulgaria posted the steepest decline among eurozone members, with output falling 2.9%. Lithuania was down 2.4% and Greece dropped 2.0%, while production in Germany, the bloc's largest economy, decreased 1.5%.
