FTSE 250 movers: William Hill gains on CBS partnership; M&S slips
London’s FTSE 250 was up 0.6% at 21,620.37 in afternoon trade on Tuesday.
William Hill rallied to the top of the index after it announced a strategic partnership with CBS Sports in the US.
Elsewhere, water utility Pennon was on the front foot as Jefferies upped its price target on the hold-rated stock to 1,090p from 740p, partly to reflect a higher valuation for waste management business Viridor.
Hammerson was boosted by an upgrade to ‘buy’ at Peel Hunt, while contractor Balfour Beatty was on the rise, likely underpinned by news that the government has given the green light to the HS2 link for high-speed rail between London, the Midlands and northern England after months of uncertainty over the £106bn project.
On the downside, Marks & Spencer was weaker as it announced the appointment of Eoin Tonge as its new chief financial officer with effect from June. Tonge - currently the CFO of convenience food group Greencore - will succeed interim CFO David Surdeau, who will remain with the business to ensure a smooth transition, the retailer said.
