FTSE 250 movers: Morgan Sindall gains; Investec goes ex-div
London’s FTSE 250 was up 0.7% at 22,708.61in afternoon trade on Thursday.
Morgan Sindall surged to the top of the index after saying that full-year results were set to be "significantly ahead" of its previous expectations as trading has been strong across the group since its last update in April.
Volution rallied as it said revenue and earnings for the full year were set to be ahead of market expectations after strong second-half trading. In a pre-close update for the year to the end of July, The company - which manufacturers ventilation equipment - said group revenue is expected to be above £270m, up around 25% from the previous year and 15% compared to the pre-pandemic 2019 financial year.
Online trading platform IG Group gained after it upgraded its guidance as it reported record full-year profit and revenue, having benefited from high market volatility. In the year to the end of May 2021, pre-tax profit rose 52% to £450.3m, with adjusted pre-tax profit 61% higher at £477.8m.
Investment platform operator AJ Bell was trading up as it said that both total customer numbers and assets under administration had grown in the three months ended 30 June.
On the downside, Investec, Pennon, Ninety One and Micro Focus were weaker as they traded without entitlement to the dividend.
