FTSE 100 movers: IAG flies lower; National Grid gains
London’s FTSE 100 was down 0.6% at 7,192.41 in afternoon trade on Monday.
British Airways and Iberia parent IAG was the worst performer, having rallied sharply at the end of last week after the UK government announced that fully-jabbed passengers arriving in England from countries not on the red list will be able to take lateral flow test from 24 October rather than a more expensive PCR test.
Going the other way, National Grid was among the gainers after saying that it had continued to perform in line with expectations ahead of the release of its first-half results on 18 November.
Tesco was also in the black as the supermarket chain said it had started its planned buyback of up to £500m in shares. It had announced the move with its interim results on October 6, saying improved profits had given it room to start a multi-year repurchase to return cash to shareholders.
