However, Wizz said on Thursday that total CO2 emissions had decreased in line with capacity, down 94.4% year-on-year.
The FTSE 250-listed group claimed it "continuously operates at the lowest CO2 emissions per passenger/km amongst all competitor airlines", with 57.3 grams per passenger per kilometre for the year ended 30 May.
Load factor dropped 32.8 points to 61% and passenger numbers dropped 96.4% to a total of 126,549 - a direct result of the Covid-19 pandemic and its associated lockdown orders.
Wizz Air also announced the opening of four new bases from 1 July, deploying 11 aircraft and launching over 50 new routes to Milan in Italy, Larnaca in Cyprus, Lviv in Ukraine and Tirana in Albania.
As of 0900 BST, Wizz shares were down 2.19% at 3,576.00p.
