The company announced at its interim results in July that it was planning to demerge the Wickes business and said on Wednesday that Rogers’ appointment represents "another milestone in the process", which is on track to complete in the second quarter of the year.
It added that "good progress" was being made on completing the Wickes board.
"Chris is currently a non-executive director of Travis Perkins plc and will bring his extensive financial, operational and retail experience to the Wickes business as it becomes an independent listed company," it said.
Rogers will not stand for re-election as a non-exec director of Travis Perkins, stepping down following the annual meeting on 28 April.
