UK firm Entertainment One, which owns the Peppa Pig brand, has launched the Peppa Pig World of Play attraction in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, with Merlin Entertainments, owner of Leogland and Madame Tussauds. The centre is the second to open following the opening of the inaugural Peppa Pig World of Play in Shanghai last October.
Andrew Carley, executive vice president of global licensing, family and brands at Entertainment One, said: “The successful launch of the first Peppa Pig World of Play in Shanghai has created a strong blueprint for the opening of future sites around the word, and we’re excited to be bringing the attraction to the US.
The further site will open in Michigan before the end of the year, Merlin said.
Peppa Pig is broadcast in 180 territories in 40 different languages, with China and the US two of its most important growth markets. Last November, a 29% rise in interim revenues at Entertainment One’s Family & Brand division helped offset a 7% decline in the film and television unit, as DVDs fell out of fashion.
At the time, chief executive Darren Throop said that a number of initiatives for the Peppa Pig brand during the rest of the year would “consolidate its position as one of the leading pre-school brands”.
