Sangar is currently corporate development director at the company, having been appointed to the role and joined the executive committee back in 2014. Intu said that since then, he has played a vital role in the group's strategic portfolio re-shaping, having led all of its investment and divestment transactions, including recent joint ventures.
He has also been responsible for sourcing and building relationships with Intu's capital partners.
Since joining the company in 2010, Sangar has worked on more than £5bn of transactions, including the acquisition of Intu Trafford Centre. He also played a leading role in Intu's entry into Spain and its successful development to date.
As chief investment officer, he will be responsible for implementing Intu's ongoing investment strategy and continuing to manage acquisitions and disposals.
Chief executive Matthew Roberts said: "Dushyant is a very talented and experienced real estate investment practitioner who has played a vital role in our successful capital recycling over recent years. A key strategic objective for us is making smart use of capital which includes reducing leverage and prioritising investment that furthers our winning destination strategy.
"Dushyant will be key in delivering disciplined capital allocation across the business and I very much look forward to working with him."
