Chief executive Chris O'Shea stated that in the current "unprecedented commodity price environment", Centrica remained focused on "looking after" its residential and business customers, whilst also working to support customers of failed suppliers and drive the regulatory reforms, which it said were "urgently required" to make sure the situation never recurs.
"Unfortunately, that has meant taking the decision to postpone our planned Capital Markets Event in November," he said.
On another note, Centrica stated its performance since the publication of its interim results in July had been in line with expectations, with the group "well hedged" for the coming winter and beyond.
Centrica added that its balance sheet remained "strong" and that its transformation remained "on track".
As of 0840 BST, Centrica shares were down 2.42% at 59.60p.
