Active Covid-19 cases in Italy to peak in 7 days, says JPMorgan
JPMorgan said on Tuesday that it expects active cases of Covid-19 in Italy to peak in the next seven days.
Based on the latest reported cases as of 16 March, the bank came to two main conclusions.
"Firstly our model for the EU5, which aggregates the individual models for the five European countries (Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the UK) on a staggered basis is tracking in line with the reported active case number (after yesterday’s change to adopt the pessimistic scenario for both Spain and Italy).
"Secondly, the continued rise in cases in Italy is putting pressure on the level of the peak, but even so we still see potential for active cases in Italy to peak in the next seven days."
For the EU5, the bank’s analysis suggests a peak towards the end of March, with a peak in active infections of close to 80,000.
