US pre-open: Futures point to flat open
US futures were pointing to a flat open on Monday ahead of the year's second-to-last session.
As of 1205 GMT, Dow and S&P 500 futures were both up 0.02%, while Nasdaq-100 futures were flat.
The Dow closed 23.87 points higher on Friday as stocks turned in a mixed performance with US-China trade news remaining firmly in focus.
Monday will mark the fourth day of the so-called Santa Claus rally period - which has typically given a boost to stocks.
Focus throughout the session will likely remain on seemingly improving US-China trade relations as the world's two largest economies agree to a "phase one" trade deal.
Domestic concerns were also still simmering in the background, after Donald Trump, who was impeached by the House of Representatives earlier in the month, retweeted a post over the weekend that included the alleged name of the whistleblower whose complaint led to his impeachment.
In data news, international trade and retail inventories figures for November will be released at 1330 GMT.
On the corporate front, new major earnings were scheduled for release on Monday.
