Tesla is set to bring its Model 3 to the UK and begin taking orders at the start of May, followed by markets that have right-hand drive vehicles, according to a tweet from CEO Elon Musk.

The Model 3 order page will go live May 1 or 2 in the UK, followed by Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong, with deliveries set to begin in the second half of the year.
Up until now, customers in the UK have been able to reserve a Model 3 with a £1000 deposit, but it's not clear exactly what the final price in the UK will be. In the US, the Standard Range Plus Model 3 can now be ordered for $39,500.
The first Model 3 vehicles were delivered to the US at the beginning of July 2017, at a splashy event at its factory in Fremont, California.
Just two days before, the company released its first quarter results, which showed a wider-than-expected loss of $702m, including $188m of non-recurring charges
Tesla’s Q1 revenues fell to $4.5bn, from $7.2bn over the prior three-month stretch, in part due to technical difficulties in delivering the Model 3 to overseas customers.
About 50% of Tesla deliveries in the first quarter occurred in the final 10 days of the period. “That’s insane,” Musk said on Wednesday during an earnings call.
“We don’t want a situation again like we had in Q1, where essentially, all the cars were arriving to customers worldwide, all at the same time,” Musk said. “So it just makes sense to plan production according to demand moving forward.”
