Parisian tech firm Schneider Electric, has been named as the most sustainable company included in the Global 100 index.
Its focus on green technologies had seen Schneider double its market value in the last two years to reach €70bn and climb 29 positions in the ranking when compared with the previous year.
Schneider offers technology and energy solutions to firms including Walmart and Marriott.
In the latest rankings, Schneider ousted Danish wind power giant Ørsted from last year’s top spot.
The UK has only five companies in the league table and none in the top 10. Its highest-ranking company was Atlantica Sustainable Infrastructure, a renewable energy services company, at number 12.
According to the Guardian, 70% of Schneider’s revenue came from sustainable solutions and almost three-quarters of its investment was focused on green innovation.
But that wasn't all, with the company having stated that it was planning to double its climate efforts over the next four years with the aim of boosting the share of “green revenues” in its topline to 80%.
