The AIM-traded firm described Shuttle Commander as an accurate physics-based flight simulator experience, simulating the controls of NASA's Discovery space shuttle and allowing users to land it at a number of real-world landing sites, such as Kennedy Space Centre, White Sands Air Force Base and Edwards Air Force Base, in an “immersive” virtual reality.
Players could experience the launch of the Hubble Space Telescope from the cockpit of the Discovery space shuttle in a real-time launch experience, using original NASA cockpit audio and mission data, as well as taking part in the deployment and servicing of the Hubble Space Telescope.
In addition, users would be able to view solar system imagery from the Hubble Space Telescope.
The company said the experience would retail for £21.99 in the UK, €24.99 in the European Union and $24.99 in the United States.
“Following on from our highly popular and award-winning experiences Apollo 11 VR, Titanic VR and 1943: Berlin Blitz, we are delighted to announce the release of our latest showcase title, Shuttle Commander, for PlayStation,” said chief executive officer David Whelan.
“This new space title will provide significantly expanded and differentiated content while building on the enthusiasm generated by our Apollo 11 title, which to date has sold over 215,000 copies and continues to show strong sales each month.
“The launch of Shuttle Commander further increases assets and content for our ENGAGE platform where educators and corporate trainers can create their own learning content.”
