The AIM-traded firm said that under the terms of the agreement, Hasbro would have exclusive rights to act as an agent on behalf of the group, to identify and help negotiate licensing opportunities for the Slingo brand in various digital gaming categories.
With an established market presence in land based and digital gaming through its Monopoly brands, Gaming Realms said the deal would allow Hasbro to bring further licensing opportunities to it in new and existing territories in certain digital gaming categories, outside the online real money gaming and lottery segments.
Gaming Realms said it chose Hasbro as an agent to supplement its licensing business based on Hasbro's status as a top six global licensor, according to License Global's 2019 Top 150 report.
It said Hasbro has a “long and successful” track record of licensing well-known game brands into a wide range of digital game and gambling categories, with major digital gaming companies including Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Scopely and Scientific Games.
“We are extremely pleased to, once again, be working closely with Hasbro on what will be a key strategic partnership in the expansion of our Slingo brand,” said Gaming Realms executive chairman Michael Buckley.
“At Gaming Realms our priority has always been to create innovative and engaging content for users and to increase its reach by expanding the offering across a variety of market sectors and, we believe that this partnership will enable us to further develop this.”
Mark Blecher, senior vice-president at Hasbro, added that Slingo had an “engaged audience” in multiple digital gaming and gambling categories.
“We are excited to apply our deep gaming licensing expertise on behalf of Gaming Realms to seek opportunities to bring the Slingo brand to life in new and unique ways.”
