Anglo African will also drill a sidetrack just below the Mengo horizon, which will be designated TLP-103CST1, initially deviating away from TLP-103C for a short distance before continuing vertically downwards - a design which will reduce risks of shifting too far from the original location.
The AIM-listed group said "limited but necessary upgrades" will be carried out to its topside facilities to ensure it can produce from the well immediately following testing. Following the initial works, the topside facilities were estimated to be able to handle production of approximately 2,000 barrels of oil per day.
Anglo African also confirmed that the court of the Republic of the Congo had lifted a seizure order obtained by SMP against certain assets belonging to its subsidiaries.
As of 0820 BST, Anglo African shares had climbed 3.93% to 4.88p.
