Marble Point Loan Financing Limited
Unaudited Net Asset Value and Publication of Monthly Report
As at the close of business on 30 April 2019, the estimated unaudited net asset value ("NAV") per Ordinary Share of Marble Point Loan Financing Limited ("MPLF") is as follows:
Share class | April 2019 Month End NAV (1) | March 2019 Month End NAV(1) | Monthly Change in NAV (1) | Total Return since Admission (1) |
Ordinary Shares | USD 0.8724 | USD 0.8585 | USD 0.0140 | (2.55%) |
MPLF's NAV total return was 4.05% in April which includes the $0.02 per share dividend declared in April and paid on 3 May. During this same period, the CSLLI, the ICE BAML HYI and the S&P 500 Index registered monthly total returns of 1.59%, 1.42% and 4.05%, respectively.
Leveraged loans generated a positive return in April as the market rebounded from the March uncertainty around rate expectations, and strong new CLO formation generated consistent, stable demand. The average price of the CSLLI moved up to 97.45% as at 30 April 2019, from 96.30% as at 29 March 2019. According to JP Morgan, April recorded the highest monthly US CLO new issue supply at $15.7 billion since the market began in the 1990s. This significant CLO formation continues to offset outflows from other segments of the market. Net retail fund outflows were nearly unchanged in April with $3.2 billion, after the market experienced a first quarter total net outflow of more than $11 billion, according to JP Morgan. Primary loan supply also remained muted throughout the month putting further upward pressure on loan prices. Subsequent to month end the CSLLI has moved down slightly to 97.20% as at 10 May 2019.
On 30 April MPLF committed to invest a total of $17.4 million for a 53.6% interest in the equity tranche of Marble Point CLO XV in connection with the pricing of the transaction. Marble Point CLO XV is expected to have a reinvestment period of approximately five years, a two year non-call period and a 13 year final maturity. Its expected weighted average cost of debt is LIBOR+206 basis points and it has an estimated effective yield of 13.0-14.0% as at the pricing date of the transaction.
MPLF's total investment in a loan accumulation facility ("LAF") was unchanged at $28.5 million as at 30 April 2019. A portion of this LAF investment will be used to fund the $17.4 million investment in Marble Point CLO XV which is expected to close on 6 June 2019.
As reported by S&P/LCD, there were 30 new U.S. CLOs issued in April, representing approximately $15.7 billion of volume, bringing the YTD total to $44.9 billion as compared to $43.0 billion for the YTD 2018 period. April also saw $1.3 billion of CLO reset issuance and $2.4 billion of CLO refinancing activity, bringing the full year totals to $7.6 billion and $5.5 billion, respectively.
As reported by S&P/LCD, three constituents of the S&P/LSTA Leveraged Loan Index - Southcross Energy Partners, Sunguard Availability Services and Crossmark Holdings - defaulted in April, increasing the lagging 12-month default rate to 1.01%. MPLF had no exposure to the defaulted issuers.
