JKX Oil and Gas appoints Christian Bukovics to board

Exploration and production firm JKX Oil and Gas announced on Monday that it had appointed former Shell vice president of exploration Christian Bukovics as an independent non-executive director.

Bukovics, who worked at Shell for a total of 33 years across eight countries and four continents, previously held the position of exploration vice president for the Dutch mining group's Russian and Commonwealth of Independent States regions and was also a member of the firm's global exploration leadership team.

The board now consists of chairman Hans Jochum Horn, Adrian Coates, Michael Bakunenko, Christian Bukovics, Vladimir Rusinov, Andrey Shtyrba and Vladimir Tatarchuk.

Of the appointment, chairman Horn said, "We are delighted that Christian has agreed to join the Board. He brings a huge wealth of relevant experience and his appointment further strengthens the independence of the Board."

As of 1445 GMT, shares had gained 8.12% to 25.30p.
