Mid-caps were trading in the red on Thursday afternoon, as weakness in industrial metals, engineering and property stocks weighed on the market.

As of 15:30 BST, the FTSE 250 was trading 0.66% lower at 18,142 points.

Ladbrokes was making gains as broker Peel Hunt upgraded its rating on the stock to 'buy' from 'hold', citing a more ambitious strategy promising for shareholder value.

Bank of Georgia reversed yesterday's gains, which came as it signed a long-term $90m loan with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), which will be used to help increase its role in diversifying Georgia's economy, expand access to finance and boost sustainable growth.

Domino's Pizza Group dipped as it announced the appointment of new financial officer Paul Doughty, who will take up the position on 8 June. Doughty comes from the same role at Moneysupermarket.com Group and has more than 20 years of commercial finance experience.

Moneysupermarket.com Group also tumbled on news of the departure, leading the fallers.

Miners Evraz, Vedanta Resources and Acacia Mining were in the red, alongside property stocks Zoopla and Foxtons.
