London’s FTSE 250 was up 0.2% at 22,920.21 in afternoon trade on Wednesday.

Oil and gas exploration company Tullow Oil was on the front foot as oil prices continued to firm after OPEC agreed on Tuesday to stick to its policy of increasing production gradually up to July.

The gains also came as the company announced that non-executive Chair Dorothy Thompson had decided to step down from the board.

On the downside, Irish convenience food group Greencore was under the cosh after a downgrade to ‘hold’ at Jefferies.
