FTSE 250 movers: Gold miners advance; Workspace slumps

London’s FTSE 250 was down 2% at 17,782.12 in afternoon trade on Tuesday.

Flexible office space provider Workspace Group and energy services company Wood Group were the two worst performers, closely followed by doorstep lender Provident Financial.

Transport operators were also under the cosh, with Stagecoach and Go-Ahead both weaker.

West End property group Shaftesbury was trading lower ahead of the release of its half-year results on Wednesday.

Going the other way, Petropavlovsk, Hochschild Mining and Centamin were all higher as gold prices rose.
