FTSE 250 movers: Funding Circle rallies again; Hikma jumps on upgraded guidance
London's FTSE 250 was down 0.2% to 19,101.24 in afternoon trade on Friday, with Funding Circle on the rise again.
Lending platform Funding Circle was on the front foot for the second day in a row after the release of its first-half results on Thursday.
William Hill was also in the green as its interim results were a slight beat versus expectations. The gambling group's adjusted first-half operating profit fell 33% to £76.2m as it took a hit from the government's regulatory cap on fixed odds betting terminals and US expansion costs.
Russ Mould, investment director at AJ Bell, said: "Investors appear prepared to take the long-term view on bookmaker William Hill after first half profit was hit by a crackdown on fixed odds betting terminals and investment in the US."
Hikma Pharmaceuticals gained as it lifted the full-year sales outlook for its generic drug business and reported a 7% jump in first-half group revenue.
Security services firm G4S rose after saying it was planning to separate its cash solutions business and reporting a jump in underlying interim pre-tax profit.
In the six months to the end of June, underlying pre-tax profit increased 7.4% to £175m, on revenue of £3.7bn, up 4.7% on the year, as it saw "particularly strong" revenue momentum from the secure solutions business in Africa and North America. This was driven by new contract wins as the company's technology enabled solutions continue to gain traction.
