FTSE 100 movers: Evraz rallies; Hargreaves Lansdown heads lower

London’s FTSE 100 was up 0.5% at 6,063.41 in afternoon trade on Monday.

Russian steelmaker Evraz was the standout gainer, while British Airways and Iberia parent IAG also racked up healthy gains.

Oil giant BP gushed higher as oil prices rose after Saudi Aramco said it was seeing signs of an oil market recovery. Aramco said demand in Asia was returning to near pre-pandemic levels.

Prudential was up a day ahead of its half-year results. UBS said it expects first-half IFRS operating profit of $2.3bn, down from $2.6bn in the same period a year ago due to lower US operating profit partially offset by growth in Asia.

Aveva was also on the up after confirming late on Friday that it was in talks to buy software maker OSIsoft.

On the downside, investment platform Hargreaves Lansdown was weaker after Credit Suisse reiterated its ‘underperform’ rating on the shares arguing that the premium PE is unjustified by a negative earnings growth outlook.
