FTSE 100 movers: Antofagasta rallies; Micro Focus slumps as chairman dumps shares

The FTSE 100 was up 0.3% at 7,531.14 in afternoon trade on Monday as investors digested mixed Chinese data and earnings from Citigroup across the pond.

Chilean copper miner Antofagasta was sitting pretty at the top of the index after a World Bank arbitration court ordered the Pakistani government pay damages of $5.8bn to Tethyan Copper, which is a joint venture between Antofagasta and Canada’s Barrick Gold.

Micro Focus slumped as it emerged that chairman Kevin Loosemore sold 650,000 shares in the business last week, pocketing £11.6m. Loosemore sold 214,658 shares in the software company last Wednesday at 1,861p peach. The day after, he sold a further 435,342 shares at 1,736p each.

Persimmon was under the cosh ahead of a Channel 4 Dispatches to be aired on Monday evening, ‘Britain’s New Build Scandal’, which is said to feature an inspection of a Persimmon home that found 295 faults, 70% which violated building regulations. Berkeley Group was also in the red.
