The historic summit between the US and North Korea will be held in Singapore, CNN reported citing people familiar with the plans.

US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he would announce the date and location in three days

Trump reportedly ruled out the demilitarized zone that divides the Korean peninsula as one of the potential locations for the meeting with Kim Jong-Un.

Although the White House did not confirm the date or location, Trump's press secretary Sarah Sanders said both had been decided already.

Speaking about the summit, Trump said on Wednesday that everything could still collapse: “Everything can be scuttled. Everything can be scuttled. A lot of good things can happen, a lot of bad things can happen. I believe that we have -- both sides want to negotiate a deal. I think it's going to be a very successful deal.”

Recently Kim Jong-Un agreed to release three Americans that were held in North Korea after he met with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. North Korean officials saw it necessary to overcome this obstacle to improve the relations in the meeting with the US president.

Trump welcomed them home as they landed on US soil on Thursday and thanked Kim for his decision.
