North Korean leader Kim Jong Un sent US President Donald Trump a "letter-like" conciliatory message regarding nuclear talks.

The message was delivered on Friday through an unspecified channel, South Korean media reported over night.

The message comes as negotiations on the denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula have stalled and struggle to progress after the historical summit between both leaders in Singapore in June.

Pyongyang's state media recently credited Trump for his "willingness" to continue negotiations criticised the State Department for tightening sanctions.

On Sunday, the office of South Korea’s President Moon Jae-in also reported that Kim had sent a letter to him in which he revealed his intentions of holding more inter-Korean summits next year to finally achieve the denuclearisation.

“There is a dialogue channel between North Korea and the United States through which they exchange active communication, but I cannot know whether it took the form of letter or something else,” Moon’s spokesman told a news briefing on Monday.
