Wizz Air's traffic takes off in September

Budget airline Wizz Air posted a sharp increase in passenger traffic last month.

The Central and Eastern Europe-focused airline carried 1.8m passengers last month, a 22% year-on-year increase, while its load factor, a gauge indicating how many seats have been filled on an aircraft, increased from 87.5% to 90.9%.

The London-listed company, which introduced nine new routes to its network, said on a rolling 12-month basis, it carried 20% more passengers than it did in 2014, while the load factor rose from 86.3% to 87.8%.

Wizz Air shares were up 0.34% to 2,045.00p at 0840 BST on Monday.
