Wizz Air passenger numbers up 26% in September

Central and Eastern Europe-focused low-cost carrier Wizz Air reported a 26% jump in passenger numbers in September, as the load factor ticked higher.

Passenger numbers rose to just over 2.7m from 2.1m in the same month a year ago, while the load factor - which gauges how full the planes are - edged up to 92.9% from 91.6%.

On a rolling 12-month basis, passenger numbers were up 23% to 26.9m last month and the load factor increased to 91.2% from 88.6%.

During September the airline announced seven new routes to and from Poland, Hungary and Bulgaria. It also added the 143rd destination to its network with Tromso in Norway.

In addition, Wizz took delivery of a brand new Airbus A321ceo aircraft, taking its fleet number to 86.
