Data company WANdisco announced a new contract win with an unnamed insurer on Thursday, described as “one of the world’s largest”, as well as continued customer momentum for the public preview of the ‘LiveData Platform’ for Microsoft’s Azure cloud computing service.

The AIM-traded firm said the customer, which serves 100 million customers globally, will use its ‘LiveMigrator’ and ‘LiveData’ plane solution to migrate data to the Azure cloud.

It said the initial contract targeted a regional use case, with the expectation that the customer would deploy the solutions across its organisation over time for multiple use cases and at scale.

The key factors cited for choosing WANdisco's technology were its capability to automate analytical data migration to the cloud, with “zero risk” of downtime or data loss, combined with its integration with the Azure cloud.

WANdisco said it had also seen continued strong uptake for its Azure cloud platform, with 28 organisations now registered, and an average of 10 added per week.

“Data migration remains a significant on-ramp for WANdisco, with our product suite stretching across the data requirements for blue-chips,” said chief executive officer and chairman David Richards.

“Our availability as a core service in the Microsoft Azure portal is attracting customers from all verticals.

“We remain on track with progression to our next phase of delivery for open preview and subsequently General Availability and are excited by the level of customer interest.”

At 1613 BST, shares in WANdisco were up 3.69% at 559.92p.
