Data company WANdisco has won a contract with a South Africa-based financial services group, it announced on Thursday, to migrate and manage data from on-premise to Amazon Web Services (AWS).

The AIM-traded firm said the customer would license its ‘LiveData’ products to migrate data from its on-premise ‘Hadoop’ cluster to AWS S3.

It said it was the the first of a number of planned phases for the customer to migrate data, and maintain an on-going hybrid cloud solution.

The customer is an existing AWS user, with WANdisco saying it was aiming to build new service capabilities in the cloud to enable a more agile business, and to optimise technology expenditure.

It was the third contract the company had secured since launching the LiveData product on AWS in September.

“We are seeing strong interest in our services and a robust pipeline of deals following the launch of LiveData Migrator on AWS,” said senior vice-president of sales Keith Graham.

“LiveData Migrator's risk free, zero business downtime capabilities for moving transactional data, combined with its easy to deploy and easy to use interface means customers across several verticals are interested in our services as businesses attempt to stay competitive and agile.

“Our solutions are ideal for hybrid cloud use cases as our LiveData capabilities enable consistent data replication across any number of environments, across any geography, as well as any cloud provider.”

At 1629 GMT, shares in WANdisco were up 0.22% at 453p.
