Downstream petroleum company Vivo Energy said on Wednesday that chief financial officer Johan Depraetere had signalled his intention to retired from his role during the first half of 2021.

Vivo said Depraetere, who had been "instrumental" in the development and growth of the business, would be replaced by Doug Lafferty on 5 March 2021.

Lafferty will join Vivo from Williams Grand Prix Holdings, where he was also CFO.

Chief executive Christian Chammas said: "Whilst we are sad to see Johan go, we are delighted to welcome Doug as his successor.

"The board and I believe his track record of financial leadership, exposure to emerging markets and commercial acumen mean that he is ideally suited to the role. We are looking forward to working with Doug as we continue to capitalise on the exciting growth opportunities for Vivo Energy."

As of 0855 GMT, Vivo Energy shares were down 3.22% at 84.20p.
