It was welcome news for Tullow Oil this weekend after a judge ruled its TEN development could continue.

The group had been forced to stop drilling on the £3.3bn project after the government of Ivory Coast accused it of operating in its sovereign waters.

Following the decision, Tullow will not be allowed to carry out anymore drilling, but will be able to continue with the project itself. All 10 wells on the project have already been drilled, so the development should be able to continue largely as planned.

The group released a statement saying: "Following this ruling, the TEN project can move ahead and we will now await instructions from the government of Ghana with regard to implementing those provisional measures that have been ordered by the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea."

The first oil from the project is expected in mid-2016 and is set to produce up to 80,000 barrels of oil a day.
