Spire Healthcare has hired De La Rue’s former finance chief Jitesh Sodha as its new chief financial officer.

The private hospital group said Sodha would start on 1 October, joining the board as an executive director. Spire has been looking for a new CFO since early March when Simon Gordon stepped down after seven years in the job.

Sodha joined De La Rue as finance director in August 2015. The banknote producer announced his departure in March as it published a profit warning. Sodha is meant to remain in the business until the end of September to ensure a smooth handover though De La Rue has not named a successor.

Before joining De La Rue, Sodha was CFO of Greenenergy International for seven years. He has also worked at Dell, Cargill and T-Mobile.

Justin Ash, Spire’s chief executive, said: "We are delighted to welcome Jitesh to Spire Healthcare. He brings a wealth of experience and specific skills that will greatly benefit Spire including his track record in helping companies execute ambitious transformation plans."

David Lomas will continue as interim CFO of Spire until Sodha joins the company.
