SFO confiscates £140,000 from Petrofac's former head of sales

Petrofac's former Head of Sales, David Lufkin, has been ordered to pay more than £140,000 after pleading guilty to 14 counts of bribery in order to influence the awarding of oil and gas contracts in Iraq, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

"This ruling is yet another example of the SFO's dogged determination to trace and recover the proceeds of bribery and corruption around the world," Emma Luxton, SFO Head of Proceeds of Crime and International Assistance.

"Today's confiscation order sends a strong message that crime does not pay."

The corrupt payments and offers to influence contract awards were made by Lufkin between 2011 and 2018.

Petrofac had previously been fined for £77m directly after the company pleaded guilty to seven counts of failing to prevent bribery between 2011 and 2017.
