Structural steel group Severfield has won six contracts worth £43m including a deal from Liverpool Football Club.

Severfield said it had been appointed as the steelwork contractor to expand the main stand at Liverpool's Anfield Road stadium plus associated improvements, supporting Carillion.

The work, due to finish in the third quarter of 2016, will add about 8,500 seats to the stand and increase the stadium's overall capacity to about 54,000 people.

Severfield also won deals on three commercial office developments in London, a major distribution centre in the Midlands and a waste-to-energy plant in Dublin.

Chief executive Ian Lawson said: "These multiple contract wins continue the momentum we've established in recent months, and all of these new contracts are in sectors where we have a strong market share or are seeing positive future trends."

Shares rose 2.5p or 3.9% to 66p at 16:04 in London.
