Outsourcing group Serco Group is crossing its fingers about picking up a sub-contracted deal with the Australia's armed forces.

After Bupa Health Services won the contract with Australia's Department of Defence to provide garrison health services to the Australian Defence Force, the FTSE 250 group's local subsidiary is in negotiations to operate as a sub‑contractor to Bupa.

Serco's sub‑contract would provide the HR managed service on the associated defence bases.

Last week, Serco said its order book was swelled by £1.9bn after winning a pair of contracts for the Home Office's asylum accommodation and support services scheme.
